For the 2nd year in a row, the Jazz
Ensemble of the Leadership Conservatory has been chosen to participate
in the Swing Central High School Jazz Band Competition & Workshop
held in Savannah, Georgia on March 31st through April 2, 2010. This
event is one of only a few premier events in the country for high
school jazz bands, and the Tarpon Springs Jazz Ensemble was selected
as one of only 12 groups out of 50 applicants from throughout the
United States. The competition is part of the Savannah
Music Festival, a 3 week event that draws some of the top jazz
musicians in the world.
The Tarpon Springs Jazz Ensemble will participate
in performance and improvisation clinics before some of the finest
jazz educators in the world, participate in jam sessions, perform
in an outdoor concert in historic Savannah, and compete for cash
awards and the chance to perform in a Savannah Music Festival concert
with headline all-stars.
