The Wind
Ensemble of the Tarpon Springs High School Leadership and Music
Conservatory was invited to perform in the 2007 International Music
Festival in Washington. D.C. This prestigious event included a performance
in the concert hall of the Kennedy
Center for the Performing Arts. It was indeed a special honor
to be invited to this event, as only six high school orchestras
in the nation get this invitation.
The Kennedy Center, located on 17 acres overlooking
the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., is Americas living
memorial to President John F. Kennedy as well as the nations
busiest arts facility, presenting more than 3,000 performances each
year. The Concert Hall is home to the National
Symphony Orchestra.
65 students traveled to Washington
for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, accompanied by many parents
and supporters, including Mr. Kent Vermeer, TSHS Principal, and
Mr. Wayne McKnight, Assistant Principal. The performance was spectacular!
