On January 22, 2008, the Pinellas County School Board approved The
Leadership Conservatory for the Arts at Tarpon Springs High School
as the District's 11th countywide magnet program. The conservatory
is a world-class learning center of excellence creating a discovery
zone for developing musicians, dancers and artists. This program
integrates leadership skills, performing arts, rigorous academics
and technology into a seamless curriculum that prepares todays
students for the shift to tomorrows challenges. Students without
extensive formal training who want to develop their talent and have
the desire to be leaders need to apply.
The student application period for countywide
magnet programs for the 2008-2009 school year was February 11-22,
2008. If you missed the enrollment period, contact Assistant Principal
Wayne McKnight (contact information below) regarding the possibility
of late enrollment.
Enrollment is open to incoming 9th graders from throughout Pinellas
County who may select one of two tracks:
- Leadership Through Instrumental Music
- Leadership Through Vocal Music
Other components of the Arts magnet curriculum
including drama and theater, dance, and visual arts will be added
in future years.
